Do it yourself solar guides are abundant on the internet. They claim to save money and energy. But do they work? Are they worth it? And are they safe?
We wanted this Earth4Energy review to be conclusive. We bought and tested a solar panel to check if the solar panels really work.
First impressions Earth 4 Energy Review
The first section gave me an overview of solar energy and basically what I was getting myself into. It was very important to lay some foundation and plan before we actually got my hands dirty. I went over this fully before we started any work just so that we would understand the concept and map everything out.
The actual part of building the solar panels. I admit, I felt a bit intimidated at first, but when I actually sat down and looked at the diagrams, I realized that there was nothing to be afraid of.
We started with the panel casing, which was just using plywood and making it shallow enough so that the sides wouldn’t block any of the solar cells.
Then we laid out the solar cells on their backs and wired them together using a soldering iron. At this point, we were hesitant that we would be doing something wrong. But we referred back to the section with questions and answers and it actually helped to clear up our concern. We initially weren’t sure where to wire them up specifically, but the diagram included showed me exactly where.
The next step we had to do was use the silicone caulk to get the solar panels on the plywood casing and make sure that they are all lined up and wired correctly.
With the step-by-step instructions, it really made it clear on what details we need to look out for.
Once we got to actually wiring the whole thing up, we made sure we looked through the electrical wiring plan included. Since we was dealing with electricity, we wanted to be sure that everything was done safely. The guide showed me the safety concerns that I should watch out for and it really relieved a lot of my worries.
As we was going through the whole thing, we watched the videos included and that was a lot easier for me. Especially at the part when we needed to solder the wiring on the back, we needed a visual aid. Since I’m a visual learning, we must say that the videos did the trick for me.

We liked the fact that the guide includes a section on sourcing the parts you will need as cheaply as possible, how it all works technically and includes detailed, step-by-step plans to build, assemble and install these home power systems in your own home.
There are also further chapters on how much power you need to make, how to conserve energy in your home, how to find and use other types of energy sources and also more general information about home power generation and environmental conservation.

This may sound complicated and technical but the guide explains everything in plain English and you come to realize it’s not complicated at all once you actually see how simple the systems are. As you read through the guide, you begin to see how the individual parts of the system work and how these parts then act together to produce your home power system. It’s a good idea to read it through completely so that you get a pretty clear picture of how it all fits together before you start.
Some Concerns. Does it work? Earth 4 energy Review
We all know that renewable energy works so the question here is whether the Earth4Energy product provides the information you need to enable you to build your own home power system that actually produces enough energy and works consistently.
We found that the solar panel system was very easy to build for us, and even though it was difficult to keep the cells aligned at first, with a bit more care and practice we mastered this part of the construction.
So the answer is Yes, the systems do work and are fully capable of producing enough energy for home use. If you took the time to carefully source the parts cheaply, then it is possible to get all of the materials for under $200 as stated on their website. Of course, you can choose to use readymade solar panels but this will obviously increase the cost of the project.
